What is the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA)?

The National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) is a pre-professional association for nursing students. Involvement in NSNA prepares students for involvement in professional associations upon graduation.

What is the Mission of NSNA?

• Bring together and mentor students preparing for initial licensure as registered nurses, and those enrolled in baccalaureate programs

• convey the standards and ethics of the nursing profession

• promote development of the skills that students will need as responsible and accountable members of the nursing profession

• advocate for and contribute to advances in nursing education

• develop nursing students who are prepared to lead the profession

How much does it cost to join NSNA?

It’s free for West Coast University students that are currently in the nursing classes. Our school will pay for the membership fee for new members. Dues are paid by the school directly to NSNA when you send in your membership form.

Are there chapters all over the country?

There are NSNA chapters in almost all fifty states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. State-approved schools that prepare students to take the registered nurse licensure examination can have chapters. NSNA has members in associate degree, diploma, baccalaureate, generic masters and generic doctoral programs in nursing.

Who runs NSNA?

NSNA is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors and the Nominating and Elections Committee are elected by the House of Delegates. All the members of the Board of Directors and the Nominating and Elections Committee are nursing students. The House of Delegates are nursing students who represent their school. Implementation of the policies and decisions of the Board of Directors and House of Delegates is carried out by NSNA staff.

REMINDER: For students that are currently enrolled in NURSING classes, if you haven't filled out NSNA application, please stop by Dr. Morris' office or approach one of the NSNA officers. Thank you!
